Yesterday we requested further information from Basketball Victoria regarding the specific details of allowing people to participate in outdoor activities or train in community sport in groups of up to 10 people. Our primary concerns were in relation to insurance and being able to effectively control outdoor training sessions in accordance with Government guidelines.
After careful consideration with the health and safety of our members being our priority, Mornington District Basketball Association (MDBA) wish to advise members that all MDBA basketball activities remain suspended until at least 31st May 2020.
Any members wishing to participate in non-MDBA sanctioned basketball activities must comply with the guidelines for outdoor activities, which can be found at http://basketballvictoria.com.au/covid-19/ or https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/sport-cultural-and-recreational…
Basketball Victoria has also advised that domestic competition, VJBL and Big V updates will be provided on 31st May 2020. Further details are available in this link http://basketballvictoria.com.au/covid-19/
How we all act in the coming weeks will directly affect the health of our community and our sports ability to return to basketball sooner rather than later. Let’s all do the right thing!
