MORNINGTON BASKETBALL – EMPOWERING OUR WOMEN

Mornington Basketball applied for a Cadbury Get in the Game Grant delivered through Women Sport Australia and we have been advised that our application was successful! This Grant comes off the back of research from Professor Clare Hanlon at Victoria University, that having a comfortable uniform is a key factor for women and girls playing sport. Women Sport Australia and CADBURY share a vision to empower girls and women and to fuel their confidence through movement and connection.

Mornington Basketball has been passionately supporting having our female athletes and staff in uniforms designed to fit a female body. In 2021 Mornington Basketball was also successful in receiving a grant to have our Breakers female coaching staff in female cut polo shirts and jackets, instead of a male designed clothing.

Two of our wonderful senior Big V players Chloe Davenport and Madi Smith put this fabulous clip together and the outcome has been that our Senior Women’s team (Big V), have had the cost of their new female designed uniforms covered by this grant!

Congratulations and thank you to Madi, Chole and the staff involved in putting this application together. We are flying the flag high at Mornington for our girls and removing ill-fitting uniforms for good!

What a fabulous achievement in the week leading up to International Women’s Day.
