Last week basketball associations from across Victoria met online with Basketball Victoria and representatives from Sport and Recreation Victoria who are the lead Victorian Government agency representing community sport.
What we know is that all dates in the Victorian Government roadmap are indicative, however at this stage we plan to commence our Summer 21/22 domestic competition from Monday 8th November 2021. The return will have capacity limits in place and access will be for fully vaccinated patrons. The detail regarding vaccinations and how this will be managed has not been released and we will update our members as soon as we know more. You can read the Victorian Government Roadmap here Roadmap_Work.pdf
If the season commences on Monday 8th November the domestic competition will have a 3 week grading period, however the Association will continue to regrade teams after this date if required. Team registrations remain open and will close on 22nd October 2021. Player registrations close on Friday 5th November 2021.
Development programs are planned to recommence from Monday 8th November 2021 this includes Jump Ball, Ground Breakers, Breakers Development Squad and Ausome Hoops. Anyone fully registered for Term 3 will have free access to Term 4. Anyone new will need to register at morningtonbasketball.com.au registrations for development programs will open on 8th October 2021.
Mornington Breakers junior Try Outs will be held in November 2021 and the dates and times are currently being revised and will be released in the coming week. Senior Breakers Big V will be held later in the year and we will continue to provide updates.
As mentioned all dates are indicative and there are some significant complexities that will need to be worked through but be assured that we are doing everything we can for a safe return to the sport we all love.
