Mornington District Basketball Association (MDBA) volunteer screening process supports our Statement of Commitment to Child Protection. MDBA is committed to safeguarding children from harm and abuse and to support this we have mandatory screening processes as outlined on this page.
All Mornington Basketball competitions are now aligned with PlaySafe. PlaySafe is PlayHQ's automated child safeguarding solution developed in partnership with Oho. It provides real-time Working with Children Check (WWCC) verification and ongoing monitoring for coaches, team managers, and other participants in positions of trust across all Australian sports.
Please note that the new system requires Police officers to obtain a Working With Children Check in order to be validated by the system, as badge numbers cannot be independently verified.

If a team does not have an approved and registered Coach and Team Manager, Mornington District Basketball Association reserves the right to forfeit the match or not fixture the team until the above has been completed.
A Working With Children Check (WWCC) is compulsory for all Coaches, Team Managers, and any individuals working with children. This includes anyone assisting at training sessions or acting as a fill-in Coach or Team Manager.
If you hold a valid WWCC, you must list Mornington District Basketball Association (MDBA) as an organisation you are associated with. MDBA will be notified once you have updated your WWCC to include the association.
